A 1:25,000 survey of the 3830 ha research station was undertaken in 1984. Climate, physiography, geology and soils of the area are briefly discussed. Clearing, burning, grazing and the introduction of exotic species have all influenced the composition of the present vegetation. Fifty-one 0.05 ha permanently-marked plots were intensively sampled, and long term sampling of these reference sites will attempt to monitor the effects of management on the vegetation of the research station. A species list and occurrence of 515 native or naturalised vascular plants recorded on the research station is given.
