Development of yellow seeded Brassica napus through interspecific crosses

Английский. Yellow seeded Brassica napus was developed through interspecific crosses with the two mustard species, Brassica juncea and Brassica carinata. The objective of these two interspecific crosses was the introgression of genes for yellow seed colour from the A genome of B. juncea and C genome of B. carinata into the A and C genomes of B. napus, respectively. The interspecific F1 generations were backcrossed to B. napus in an attempt to eliminate B genome chromosomes and to improve fertility. Backcross F2 plants of the (B. napus x B. juncea) x B. napus cross were then crossed with backcross F2 plants of the (B. napus x B. carinata) x B. napus cross. The objective of this intercrossing was to combine the A and C genome yellow seeded characteristics of the two backcross populations into one genotype. The F2 generation of the backcross F2 intercrosses was grown in the field, plants were individually harvested and visually rated for seed colour. 91 yellow seeded plants were identified among the 4858 plants inspected. This result indicated that the interspecific crossing scheme was successful in developing yellow seeded B. napus.

Немецкий. Gelbsamiger Brassica napus wurde durch Kreuzungen von B. napus mit den Senfarten B. juncea und B. carinata entwickelt. Das Ziel der beiden interspezifischen Kreuzungen war die Introgression von Genen fuer gelbe Samenfarbe aus dem A-Genom von B. juncea und gleichzeitig dem C-Genom von B. carinata in die A- und C-Genome von B. napus. Die F1-Pflanzen wurden mit B. napus rueckgekreuzt, um B-Genom-Chromosomen zu entfernen und die Fertilitaet zu verbessern. F2 Pflanzen der Rueckkreuzung (B. napus X B. juncea) X B. napus wurden mit F2 Pflanzen der Rueckkreuzung (B. napus X B. carinata) X B. napus gekreuzt. Mit dieser Interkreuzung sollten die Gene fuer Gelbsamigkeit aus den A- und C-Genomen der beiden Rueckkreuzungspopulationen in einer Pflanze kombiniert werden. Die F2-Generation der Interkreuzungen wurde im Feld angebaut; die Pflanzen wurden individuell geerntet und die Samenfarbe visuell bonitiert. Es wurden insgesamt 4858 Pflanzen beurteilt, unter denen 91 gelbsamige Formen gefunden wurden. Das Ergebnis zeigt, dass das verwendete interspezifische Kreuzungsschema erfolgreich zur Entwicklung gelbsamiger Formen von B. napus verwendet werden kann
