The Enchytraeidae research in the southern part of Danube Delta has revealed the presence of 33 species. All species are new for the studied area. A new genus and two new species have been identified for Romanian fauna. There is a high diversity of Enchytraeidae species in forest biotopes, especially in those situated in Babadag-Jurilovca area. In Dolosman Cape area, the Enchytraeidae fauna is very poor, probably a rest of a forest fauna. The Popina Island fauna is extremely poor in Enchytraeidae species, due to high anthropisation from the period before being declared as a natural reserve. In truly Danube Delta areas, the diversity of Enchytraeidae species is high only in two forests: Caraorman and Mila 26. In Gorgova area, anthropisation is very high, so the community of Enchytraeidae species is extremely poor. This biotop should be protected.
