Improving crop water use: what are the options? [wheat]. [Seminar paper]
1986
Turner, N.C. (Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization, Wembley (Australia). Dryland Crops and Soil Research Program)
The results demonstrate that management practices that maximise water use by the crop will improve grain yields per growing season rainfall. Management practices such as early sowing, optimum use of fertilizers, and control of weeds and pathogens, all combine to maximise crop water use and reduce water use by weed competitors and water loss by soil evaporation.
