Multiple-use planning - an application of FORPLAN [linear programming model] to an Australian forest
1990
McKenney, D.W. (Australian National Univ., Canberra. Centre for Resource and Environmental Studies)
The model, of U.S. origin, can assist in the type of systematic rational planning of forests suggested by the Institute of Foresters. Some of its capabilities are demonstrated by examining the trade-offs between wood and water production and age structure in the Otway Ranges of Victoria. Even when perfect information is not available quantitative analysis can provide many insights on the economic and biophysical effects of forest policies.
