Safe use of ethylene gas in the fruit ripening industry. [Seminar paper]
1990
Troy, P. (Western Australian Dept. of Occupational Health, Safety and Welfare, Perth)
Ethylene in quantities well below its lower explosive limit should be used to stimulate fruit ripening. Ethylene is highly explosive and must be treated with caution. Material safety data sheets are available from the supplier. Ethylene can be used safely in the fruit ripening industry. However, if safety precautions are ignored, the potential for a massive explosion will exist.
