The forecast of the demand for selected food products development is derived and diferentiated for the urban and rural areas using Engel demand functions and the supposed income development in connection to the prospective GDP growth. The demand functions are derived according to the family budget statistics for the employees and farmers. With regard to the task of the agricultural production higher rentability, which has to be reached notwithstanding the decreasing amount of the production, it is necessary to push the costs point of view and to offer, especially in agriculture, only the production which could be realized in the market. With income growth, also the demand for the products of higher demand elasticity will increase. There were computed the linear, exponential and Tornquist functions, characterizing the demand development for 52 analyzed products with the income change. From the comparison of demand changes expressed by the payment changes and the changes in kind, the acceptable prices in case of income growth were computed and the differences between the employees and farmers households were evaluated.
