Determination of the amount of herbicide solution intercepted by wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) canopies at different growth stages

Английский. The present paper reports the results obtained in two trials aimed at evaluating the amount of herbicide solution that passed through a wheat canopy reaching the soil. Measurements were made in relationship to both crop growth stage and spraying volume. Herbicide treatment was simulated using nitrogen (at known concentration) as the solution marker and the amount reaching the soil was collected on special surfaces of known area. At the lowest spraying volumes, the relationship between the amount of unintercepted solution and crop LAI can be adequately described by an exponential function, similar to the one used for light inteception in a crop stand. On the contrary, at the highest spraying volume, a linear function showed a better fit to the experimental data, probably due to dripping of herbicide solution from leaf surfaces

La presente nota riferisce dei risultati di un biennio di prove volte a stimare le diverse percentuali di soluzione erbicida distribuita che raggiungono il terreno (non intercettate dalla copertura vegetale) in diversi momenti del ciclo di crescita del frumento e con diversi volumi di applicazione della soluzione (200, 400 e 600 l ha sup(-1)). Il metodo proposto consiste nel simulare il trattamento sulla coltura con una soluzione contenente un marcatore in concentrazione nota, raccogliendo a livello del terreno la soluzione non intercettata su superfici note. Per i due volumi di distribuzione piu' bassi, alla quota di soluzione non intercettata sembra adattarsi la funzione esponenziale del LAI usata nei modelli di intercettazione della radiazione. Per il volume piu' alto invece, la relazione con il LAI sembra essere di tipo lineare; presumibilmente questo diverso comportamento e' riconducibile al manifestarsi di fenomeni di gocciolamento
