Weed control observation at Cheju

Weed control and subsequent observation on weeds, have been carried out in Cheju from beginning of March 1991 till July 1992. Weed growth was recorded in blocks that were ploughed and harrowed in different ways. By the end of May each block also was treated partly with 2 herbicides and weed kill and regrowth was compared. During masika 1992 rice was grown in the observation plot and the yield has been compared from the different treatments. There was an observed delay in weed emergence after deep ploughing, but no significant differences in rice yield were found due to ploughing. The different types of harrowing showed no effect. There was a marked difference for different herbicide treatments both short term and long term, rice yield was significantly different for the different herbicides and the zero treatment
