The world wide web (www) on the internet already is a rich source of veterinary information and offers several world wide discussion fora for problems relating to veterinary practice. This article provides practical tips for first-time users of the www and encourages the exploration of this new information technology for further education. The Swiss Drug Compendium is now accessible on www and in the near future the exchange and interpretation of laboratory results and diagnostic images via internet seems feasible
