[Aquaculture activities in the Arab countries]

Aquaculture in the Arab countries has a promising future. Most governments and in some cases the private sector, have shown great interest in supporting aquaculture activities by establishing research centres for working on development of aquaculture. Although aquaculture production in the Arab countries is still of minor importance compared to the production from capture fisheries, there is clear indication that this sector is gaining more importance and popularity in the development plans of these countries.
