Eleven different treatments of Xerobrometum sward renovation were tested and compared with the indigenous sward of the area. Experimental site Vnajnarje lies on the border of the Prealpine and the Predinaric phytogeographical region on the altitude of 670 m. The highest yields of treatments 2 (3000 kg CaO + 120 kg N + 100 kg P2O5 + 150 kg K2Oha/year), 6 (120 kg N + 100 kg P2O5 + 150 kg K2O/ha/year), 8 (herbicide + 120 kg N + 100 kg P2O5 + 150 kg K2O/ha/year) and 9 (ploughing + 120 kg N + 100 kg P2O5 + 150 kg K2O/ha/year) were 5.10, 5.11, 5.44 and 5.72 t DM/ha/year respectively. Treatments 3 (3000 kg CaO + 170 kg P2O5/ha/year), 4 (150 kg P2O5/ha/2 years applied as Thomas phosphate) and 5 (100 kg P2O5 + 150 kg K2O/ha/year) did not influence the herbage DM yield at all but improved the botanical composition of the sward. Weeds were successfully eradicated with Roundup herbicide (treatment 8) or ploughing + seeding + fertilizing (treatments 9, 11).
