Based on the vobabulary of social science role theory and the evaluation of a large spectrum of relevant publications, a selection of six significant changes of the West German fulltime farmers' role is portrayed as trends in simplified terms and explained in brief. Due to these changes, those East Germans, who have (re-)set up a farm since the German reunification in 1989, could not simply take up the content of the so-called single-farmers' role up to its formal abolition in the GDR at the end of the agricultural collectivization process there in 1960. Caused by Germany's division till then, these East Germans also could not know sufficiently well those changes, which surely aggravated their problems with their new role "shaped" before in West Germany. There is still an enormous research need concerning the West German changes as well as the East German difficulties with this professional role.
