The landscape is a system composed by more simple entities. The pedogeomorphological subsystem is one of those entities, which is formed by soils, regolith and water. Each of these components can be considered as a subsystem by itself. The purpose of this study is to propose a theoretical model in order to characterize the flows of information within the pedogeomorphological subsystem. The methodology included several stages: planification, analysis, design, execution and validation. During the stage of analysis the pedogeomorphological model was compared with the needs of the potential users, revealing relevant aspects that should be developed in the theoretical model. The stage of design was focused on the identification and definition on revelant "FUNTIONS", and the indispensable requirements to carry out such funtions. During the validation phase the model was applied to real situations. The proposed model is valuable because it focuses the user attention on the linkage between all the important aspects of a specific system, showing the information which must be available, or, which must by generated to solve a given research problem. As investigator and/or Teacher who begins to apply the systemic within an interdisciplinary environment.
