The effect of conservation tillage on parameters of soil infiltration

Effect of four tillage systems on water infiltration is studied. In cooperation with the Research Institute of Crop Production field water infiltration tests were conducted to determine the water infiltration rate. The set of three double-ring infiltrometres were used in field tests.The following tillage systems in grain maize growing were compared: conventional tillage, reduced tillage, mulch-till and no-till. The highest values of infiltration rate were recorded in no-till system where the direct drilling was provided - 0.34 mm.min-1. For comparison infiltration rate of 0.08 mm.min-1 was recorded in conventional tillage system.
