Precipitation and runoff sums were processed for the whole year, for warm and cold seasons in the representative and in experimental watersheds in the Czech Republic. Comparison of the results of measurements with other impacts of environmental elements, especially with variations in climatic elements, was tested in view of its usefulness on the basis of longer-term measurements of hydrological effects of forests on runoff rates. Neither the changes in biocenoses nor forest regenerations in the watersheds under study performed by highly mechanized technologies had any impacts on runoff sums in the years of observation. A change was observed in one of watersheds only. It could be a result or replacing the main commerical species beech by spruce, of heavy air pollution, of a sudden temperature change at the turn of the years 1978/1979 or of other factors.
