The study briefly summarizes the present level of knowledge in the Czech Republic but it also reflects foreign innovations, both potato utilization for further processing and potato varieties with coloured tubers meant for consumer's eye and taste. It deals with soil and climatic conditions, soil treatment, seed preparation and fertilization. It presents information on preharvest stand preparation, postharvest treatment and storage. It also investigates new preparations stimulating growth or protecting potatoes from pests or diseases. There are also presented, in an amenable way, new findings on germination inhibition in stores.
