Performance and estimation genetic parameter of corn

The experiments were conducted at three locations (Rambatan, Payakumbuh, and Sitiung), from November 1991 to March 1992, in a randomized block design, with three replications, the purpose of experiments were to evaluate performance and estimate heritabilities, genetic advance and mean of genetic advance of agronomic characters, yield component, and yield of corn. The results indicated that highest performance of agronomic characters, yield component and yield were high at Rambatan (5.48 t/ha). Heritabilities of agronomic characters were high at Rambatan and Sitiung, but heritabilities of yield components, and yield were low at three locations, except for ear length, rows per ear, and 1000 seed weight at Rambatan. Genetic advance, and mean of the genetic advance were high of plant height, and ear height. Plant height and ear height could be used as criterium selection for yield improvement of corn
