The change of peat chemical properties resulting from mineral soil incorporation

The purpose of this research was to study effects of mineral soil incorporation on the change peat chemical properties. Peat soil (Typic Troposaprists) was taken from Patek village, Aceh Barat and mineral soil (Podzolic) was taken from Jantho (Aceh Barat). The experiment was conducted by using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 replications. Five rates of mineral soil incorporation i.e. 0, 20, 40, 60 and 80 percent. Each soil was incubated in polyethylene pots for 60 days. The results showed that the incorporation of mineral soils had highly significant effect on some chemical properties of Peat soils after 60 days incubation, which indicated by the increase soil pH (H2O and KCl) and available P. The incorporation of mineral soil also had significant effect on the decrease organic C, N, C/N ratio and cation exchange capacity (CEC) of peat soils
