The place of genotypic variation in maize integrated management of Striga asiatica in Malawi.

Striga asiatica infestation is a serious biotic constraint of maize production in Malawi. Identification of at least partial genetic resistance would be siginificant contribution in its integrated management. Some laboratory and glasshouse studies were conducted to bioassay germination induction and reaction of Malawi maize varieties to S. asiatica infection in comparison to some regarded resistant/tolerant elsewhere.
