The underlying objectives of the study was to raise the understanding of the conditions for the successful reform of agricultural output markets in Malawi, particulary the maize market. The maize market was chosen because maize is the main staple food crop in Malawi. The study provides an understanding of the nature of maize market in Malawi and the types, extent and seriousness of obstacles in implementation of reforms in maize market.
