Influence of the genetic and environmental factors on the meat production of rabbits in traditional breeding conditions

The aim of the study was to evaluate the meat production of rabbits in traditional breeding conditions which are characterized, among other factors, by small number of animals, slow exchange of the basic herd and not very intensive feeding. The experimental material consisted of the New Zealand White rabbits, Tan rabbits and their back-cross breeds. The study was conducted in 4 experimental groups including 711 rabbits subjected to detailed dissection. In the group 1 and 2, the influence of inbreeding, age and sex on the growth, slaughter utility and meat quality of pure breeds (NZW and Tan) was examined. In the groups 3 and 4, the influence of back-cross breeding of NZW and Tan rabbits on the above mentioned characteristics was examined
