Inventories of the genetic structures at isoenzyme marker gene loci are the basis of the analysis of the genetic system of populations for the purpose of gene conservation. An indirect method of inference on genetic control of trait uses the genetic distance at marker gene loci between groups of individuals possessing different phenotypes. A trait with special adaptive relevance is survival. If early mortality affects genetic structures at marker loci, its variation can also attributed to the control of either these marker gene loci or stochastically associated loci. The employment of genetic markers can help to prove genetic controlledness in a variety of other contexts
