Land clearing system previously conducted in unproductive secondary forest areas for industrial timber plantation was tree felling cutting and burning. This burning shall not be applied anymore in the future due to many disadvantages. The purpose of the research is to investigate the land clearing system without burning applicable for industrial timber plantation. A completely randomized design was applied for three systems of land clearing, namely: A0 = clean and burn, A1 = clean by buldozer, and A2 = strip system. Each treatments consisted of 100 G. arborea young plants and replicated six times. The results showed that the height and stem diameter growth of G. arborea plants on clean and burn areas were faster than those of plants on areas cleaned by buldozer or strip system. However, the number of branches and the fire risk was higher on areas cleared by clean and burn system. Land clearing by buldozer was applicable for land preparation of G. arborea plantation on secondary forest areas, but fertilization with appropriate doses and weeding are required to improve the growth of young plants
