The flotation technique in comparison to the isolation technique for examination of house dust mite

Английский. The aim of this study is compare the density and variety of house dust mites species (TDR) obtained by the isolation and the flotation technique. Dust house samples were collected with a vacuum cleaner from 10 houses located at housing area BTN Pamulang, Tengerang. Subsequently, the dust house samples was brought to Department of Parasitology Faculty of Medicine, University of Indonesia for house dust mites examination. Identification of dust mites was done according to the determination key describe by Krantz (1978) and Mc Daniel (1979). The results showed that from the two techniques 5 species of dust mites e.g. Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Glicyphagus destructor, Cheyletus erudetus, Suidasia medinensis and Dermatophagoides farinae were found. A total of 359 mites were obtained by the flotation technique, whereas the isolation technique yield only 45 mites. Both of these collected mites population consisted of 5 species, which D. pteronyssinus was a dominant species. From statistical analysis it was shown significant differences (p0,05). индонезийский. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan kepadatan dan keragaman jenis Tungau Debu Rumah (TDR) yang didapatkan dengan teknik isolasi dan teknik flotasi. Sampel debu dikumpulkan dengan penyedot debu dari 10 rumah di Perumahan BTN Pamulang, Tangerang. Selanjutnya sampel debu dibawa ke Bagian Parasitologi Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia untuk pemeriksaan. Tungau yang didapat diidentifikasi berdasarkan kunci determinasi Krantz (1978) dan Mc Daniel (1979). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari ke 2 teknik ini didapatkan 5 jenis tungau antara lain Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus, Glicyphagus destructor, Cheyletus erudetus, Suidasia medinensis dan Dermatophagoides farinae. Jumlah tungau yang didapatkan dengan teknik flotasi adalah 359, sedangkan dengan teknik isolasi hanya diperoleh 45 tungau. Kedua populasi tungau yang dikumpulkan ini terdiri dari 5 spesies dan D. pteronyssinus merupakan spesies yang paling dominan. Dari analisis statistik menunjukkan perbedaan yang bermakna (p0,5).
