The field experiments were conducted at Papelon, Portuguesa state, Venezuela, with the purpose of to evaluate the persistence in the soil, of commercial formulations of herbicides used in the corn production system, during the rainy season of 1993. The desing used was a randomized block layout with 4 replications. The herbicide applications in early post-emergency in the corn crop, were done with hand-sprayers, calibrated to discharge 280 l/ha and at doses of : alachlor 4.48 and 8.96 kg ai/ha; metalachlor 3.36 and 6.72 kg ia/ha; pendimentalin 2.24 and 4.48 kg ai/ha and atrazin 3.36 and 6.72 kg ia/ha. Soil samples were taken at 15 cm depth the day of application and 7, 14, 21, 42 and 63 days after the initial application. The residues of the different herbicides were detected by means of a chemical extraction and later evaluation in a gas chromatograph. The data analysis from the different samples of soil and the statistic evaluation of the different regression models that were tested, suggest the following adjusted model and half-life (t1/2): (alachlor 4.48 kg ai/ha Y= ab a la X, t1/2= 1.5 days; 8.96 kg ai/ha Y

Испанский язык; кастильский. Los ensayos de campo fueron establecidos en Papelon, Edo. Portuguesa, Venezuela, con el objeto de evaluar la persistencia de formulaciones comerciales de herbicidas utilizados en el cultivo de maiz, durante el ciclo de lluvia de 1993. El diseno experimental utilizado fue bloques al azar, con cuatro replicaciones. Las aplicaciones, en post-emergencia temprana fueron realizadas con asperjadora de espalda calibrada para descargar 275 l/ha y a las dosis de: alachlor 4,48 y 8,96 kg ia/ha; metolachlor 3,36 y 6,72 kg ia/ha; pendimethalin 2,24 y 4,48 kg ia/ha y atrazin 3,36 y 6,72 kg ia/ha. Las muestras de suelo fueron tomadas, a 15 cm de profundidad, los dias 0, 7, 14, 21, 42 y 63 despues de las aplicaciones iniciales. Los residuos de los diferentes herbicidas fueron detectados a traves de extraccion quimica y posterior evaluacion en un cromatografo de gases. El analisis de los datos de las diferentes muestras de suelo y la evaluacion estadistica de los diferentes modelos de regresion probados sugieren las siguientes funciones de ajuste y vida media (t1/2): (alachlor 4,48 kg ia/ha = ab a la x, t1/2= 1,5 dias; 8,96 kg ia/ha Y = B0 + B1Xi a la 1/2 + B2Xi a la 1/2 + B3Xi a la 3/2 + Eij, 1,65 t1/2 1,66 dias); metalachlor 3,36 kg ia/ha y
