Anion of potassium fertilizer has an effect on calcium elution from soil only at extremely high doses of fertilizer (over 600 kg.ha/l) when an inhibitory sulfate anion K2SO4 starts to be manifested against Cl- of potassium salt. On the contrary Ca2+ elution is dependent on CaCO3 amount from soil as well as on the dose of potassium fertilizer. The main source of mobile Ca2+ which is eluted from soil is the reaction: CaCO3+H2O+CO2 - Ca2+ + 2 HCO3-. The elution is not dependent on temperature and partial pressure of CO2, but it is dependent on CO2 amount in soil, that is on microbial activity of soil and primary organic matter in soil.
