In the years 1993-95 field experiments were performed in the Agricultural Experiment Station Pawlowice near Wroclaw. The experiments concerned the effect of sod seeding selected grasses and red clover on the content of crude protein in meadow sward were carried out in split-plot arrangement. Chemical analysis of the material showed that the factors used in the experiment affected crude protein in dry mass of plant material from the respective treatments. With red clover in the second year of full utilization the content of crude protein content of dry mass increased by 10 percent, but only on plots with N fertilizer. In the sward sod seeded with grasses the crude protein content increased by ca. 7 percent at the N rate of 180 kg N/ha
