Loading of the whole surface of plots by tractors passings exerts a destructive effect on physical conditions of the soil, bringing its increased bulk density and strength in arable and subarable layers as well as decreased water content (in the top layer). These changes deteriorate the vegetation conditions for sugar beet plants and contribute to occurrence of significant and ever greater reduction in yields corroborated by significant correlation dependences. The present commonly applied system of farming, tending to loading the fields with greater number and weight of moving machines, will certainly deteriorate the productivity of soil. Chiselling (60 x 60 cm) was not found to counteract this process
