A baseline and need identification survey was carried out at outreach research site representing low hills environments of Agriculture Research Station, Lumle located at Barbise in Syangja district from 19-23 March 1999. The Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) technique was used to establish benchmark information on bio-physical, socio-economic, institutional and farming constraints farmers' needs and researchable problems which are required to carryout agricultural research on more representative problems monitoring regular change and evaluating the impacts of research activities.
