Effect of the fine dust content in sandy and loamy soils on their permeability
2000
Lipinski, J. (Instytut Melioracji i Uzytkow Zielonych, Falenty (Poland))
Results presented herein are aimed at demonstrating whether the fine dust content significantly decreases permeability and may thus be a basis to decrease the drainage spanning. Soil sampeles were taken from an active layer i. e. from a depth of 35-50 cm and from the substratum (80-110 cm depth). These layers were distinguished to establish possibly different relationships between the filtration coefficient and the fine dust content in an active, live soil layer and the one beneath. The dependence of the filtration coefficient on the percentage content of fine dust against the dependence on the content of silt and clay particles, coarse dust and sand were analysed using linear, multiple and exponential regression
