The aim of the present work is to find a formula or a methodology to integrate or enable the use of multiple criteria decision making techniques in the bosom of the geographical information systems for its application in land planning. On first place, the bases and the basic functions of GIS are presented, and then the basic concepts of multiple criteria decision making techniques and the different methods are studied. Thereinafter and according to the previous analysis, the technique that adapts better to GIS is chosen. Next, an integration methodology of the compromise programming method is elaborated, with the two types of GIS, raster and vectorial, represented respectively by the packages IDRISI and PC-ARC/INFO.
