Many activities related to rabbit production have been supported by the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza of the CIHEAM, and several meetings, held in Zaragoza (Spain), Saida (Tunisia), Zagazig and Cairo (Egypt), have resulted in the creation of a research network involving people from several Mediterranean countries. Given the success of the first conference in Cairo in 1994, a second conference was organized in Adana, Turkey, with the purpose of presenting and discussing the issues concerned with rabbit production in hot climates, followed by publication of the proceedings. The Conference was attended by 40 participants. Thirty-two papers were presented on the following topics: rabbit production in hot climates and their problems, genetic improvement, reproduction, nutrition, pathology, quality of products, housing, marketing and economics.
