Indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) test in bovine dermatophytosis

In order to study the humoral immune response tod ermatophytes in cattle, a serological analysis on 436 bovine sera (the greater part coming from farms with trichophytosis due to Trichophyton verrucosum) was carried out. All the sera were compared to zoophylic dermatophytes (T. verrucosum, T. mentagrophytes, Microsporum canis) and 84 sera of these were also compared with the environmental mycetes (Microsporum gypseum, T. ajelloi, T. terrestre, Aspergillus fumigatus), using the indirect fluorescent antibody (IFA) test, according with Hussin e Smith (1980). All the animals examined showed a humoral response against the tested antigens

Allo scopo di studiare la risposta immunitaria umorale nei confronti delle dermatofitosi bovine e' stata svolta un'indagine sierologica su 436 sieri bovini, la maggior parte dei quali proveniente da aziende in cui era stata evidenziata la presenza di Trichophyton verrucosum. Tutti i sieri sono stati saggiati nei confronti dei dermatofiti zoofili che piu' frequentemente colpiscono gli animali domestici (T. verrucosum, T. mentagrophytes, Microsporum canis), e 84 di essi anche nei confronti di funghi ambientali (M. gypseum, T. ajelloi, T. terrestre, Aspergillus fumigatus), usando la tecnica di immunofluorescenza indiretta (IFI) secondo le indicazioni di Hussin e Smith (1980). In tutti gli animali esaminati e' stata rilevata reattivita' anticorpale a titolo variabili nei confronti degli antigeni saggiati
