Soil biofumigation for the control of Sclerotium cepivorum and Sclerotium Rolfsii [Allium cepa L. - Calabria]

Английский. The effectiveness of soil biofumigation in the control of sclerotia of Sclerotium cepivorum and S. Rolfsii was tested in a field trial carried out during July-August 1997. The treatments were carried out for 12, 27 and 47 days, amending the soil with chicken manure (1 kg/square m) and tarping it by transparent polyethylene, gas virtually impermeable film, and black coextruded film. The mortality (%) of sclerotia buried at 15 and 30 cm in the soil was significantly increased by a 12 or 27 day period of biofumigation treatment, respectively. Adding chicken manure contributed to increase significantly the effectiveness of the treatments against both pathogens, apart from the employed tarping film. S. rolfsii resulted more resistant to the treatments. The results pointed out that the combination PE film + chicken manure allows a complete control of the sclerotia of S. cepivorum, placed to 15 and 30 cm of depth in the soil, after 12 and 27 days of biofumigation treatment, respectively. Si riportano i risultati di una prova di biofumigazione, effettuata in campo, in luglio-agosto, nei confronti di sclerozi di Sclerotium cepivorum e S. rolfsii, posti nel terreno a due diverse profondita' (15 e 30 cm). I trattamenti, condotti per tempi di 12, 27 e 47 giorni, sono stati realizzati utilizzando della pollina (1 kg/metro quadrato) e, come copertura: polietilene trasparente (PE), film nero a bassa permeabilita' ai gas (Pebp) e film coestruso nero (COE).La somministrazione di pollina al terreno ha contribuito ad accrescere significativamente l'efficacia dei trattamenti nei confronti dei due patogeni, indipendentemente dal telo di copertura impiegato. S. rolfsii ha mostrato maggiore resistenza ai trattamenti. I risultati hanno evidenziato che la combinazione film PE+pollina e' in grado di inattivare gli sclerozi di S. cepivorum, posti a 15 cm, dopo solo 12 giorni di trattamento e di ottenere il 100% di mortalita' anche su quelli posti a 30 cm di profondita', dopo circa 27 giorni. Ove non sono richiesti tempi brevi di biofumigazione, e' apparsa interessante l'attivita' svolta, nel lungo periodo (47 giorni), da COE+pollina
