Uterine lumen concentration of leucotriene B4 (LTB4) and tromboxane B2 (TXB2) in the mare

Endouterine levels of the relevant chemical mediators of inflammation leucotriene B4 (LTR4) and tromboxane B2 (TXB2) were evaluated by means of a dialysis bag inserted into the uterus for one hour. During the 1996 and 1997 breeding seasons 58 standardbred and thoroughbred mares were object of this study: 15 maiden mares (group A), 21 barren mares (group B), 13 (group C) and 9 (group D) foaling mares 6-10 days and 10-23 days after foaling respectively. The mean values and s.d. of LTB4 and TBX2 in the 4 groups where respectively: group A 115.93 (110.9) and 56.46 (55.07), group B 213.28 (138.68) and 101.58 (128.96), group C 597.53 (306.09) and 277.14 (242.92), group D 197 (243.9) and 72.51 (82.81). The variance test showed always a significant difference for LTB4, other than between A vs D and B vs D. For TXB2 there was always a significant difference, other than between A vs B, A vs D and B vs D

[Sono stati valutati i livelli endouterini dei mediatori chimici rilevanti dell'infiammazione leucotriene B4 (LTR4) e trombossano B2 (TXB2) per mezzo di una borsa dialitica inserita nell'utero per un'ora. Nelle annate 1996 e 1997 sono state utilizzate per questo studio 58 cavalle di razza trottatrice e purosangue inglese: 15 cavalle mai coperte (gruppo A), 21 cavalle vuote (gruppo B) 13 (gruppo C) e 9 (gruppo D) cavalle con parto avvenuto da 6-10 giorni e da 10-23 giorni, rispettivamente. I valori medi e le deviazioni standard di LTB4 e TBX2 nei 4 gruppi erano rispettivamente: gruppo A 115,93 (110,9) e 56,46 (55,07), gruppo B 213,28 (138,68) e 101,58 (128,96), gruppo C 597,53 (306,09) e 277,14 (242,92), gruppo D 197 (243,9) e 72,51 (82,81).
