Buckwheat varietal investigation report 1998/99
2001
Bishokarma, S.B.(Hill Crops Research Programme, Kabre Dolakha (Nepal))
There were altogether five different activities under this buckwheat investigation project. CVT-bitter, CVT sweet, IET sweet, IET-bitter, NON sweet and NON bitter. The experiments were tested the three location i.e. ARS Jumla, Agri. Botany Division, Khumaltar and ARS Kabre. In CVT-bitter there were 9 genotypes tested. Genotype local bitter ACC.2223, Acc.2227 were found superior among the tested bitter buckwheat lines a ARS Kabre and genotypes local buckhweat Acc.2223 and GF-216 respectively. In CVT-sweet 9 genotypes were tested including Kabre sweet and IR-13 buckwheat in square lattice design. Genotypes GF-5099, 85603 and GF-5274 were found promising at ARS Kabre and genotypes GF-5289, GF-5006 and GF-5194 were superior at ARS Jumla. Similarly in IET a total of 9 for bitter and 12 genotypes for sweet checks were tested at ARS Kabre and ARS Jumla. From this experiment genotypes GF-5139, GF-5122 and IR-13 in IET (sweet) Kabre and genotypes local bitter MY-2-27-1 and sample 6-1 were high yielding under IET (bitter) at ARS Kabre. Similarly genotypes local bitter, sample 6-1 and MY-2-27-1 were high yielding at ARS Jumla under IET (bitter) set. In buckwheat NON (sweet) a total of 40 genotypes including checks were tested at ARS Kabre, ARS Jumla and AGD, Khumaltar. Among the tested genotypes Kabre sweet gave highest yielding. Then other tested genotypes in NON sweet and high yield at ARS Kabre. The experiment data were not analyzed at ARS Jumla due to high (100 percent) sterility.
