Optimisation of Reservoir Management in the Semi-Arid Countries: Case of Lakhmess, Tunisia

The present study introduces a model for the management of Lakhmess reservoir on Siliana River in Tunisia. Two objectives were selected: the satisfaction of the agricultural demand and the guarantee of minimum stored in the reservoir at the end of the optimisation horizon. The management rules need to specify the optimum weight to give to each partial objective, through the determination of the risk criteria connected to each optimised rule. The applied optimisation technique is the stochastic dynamic programming (SDP) and the obtained results should be compared with other optimisation techniques and/or other systems.
