The studies were carried out at the Agricultural Experimental Station in Pawlowice near Wroclaw, Lower Silesia, Poland, in 1996-98. A sugar-beet field of 1 ha was divided into four 1 m wide stripes, which consisted of 3 parts each. First part was planted wit a mixture of Sinapis alba L. (25 percent), Phacelia tanacetifolia (25 percent) and Coriandrum sativum L. (50 percent). The second was herbicide treated, and the third was uncultivated (weedy). For identification bumblebees were collected by entomological net. Additionally, they were counted using a 1 sq. m frame four times in each variant once a week and caught into yellow traps. Eight species of bumblebees were identified on mixture of Sinapis alba, Phacelia tanacetifolia and Coriandrum sativum. The most numerous were Bombus terrestris, B. lapidarius and B. lucorum (1998). Cultivated strips attracted much more bumblebees than weedy strips. During 3 years of our study 773 insects were found on cultivated plants and only 41 on weeds
