Problems of the ecological modernization of agriculture in Poland and the crisis of the European Union common agriculture policy
2002
Kosmicki, E. (Akademia Rolnicza, Poznan (Poland))
The situation of a village and of agriculture was assessed very often in the context of a technocratic theory of modernization that nowadays connected is with a neoliberal conception of the economy. However, the ecological and social problems were neglected. The conception of technocratic modernization gives us a wider prospective to assess the present process of the ecological and economical transformation of a village. In the future, the European Union will more often than nowadays take into account the demand of ecological modernization, including the organic agriculture. Thus, the radical changes of the Common Agriculture Policy based on the global market and the ecologization of agriculture are more probable. This strategy is a chance for Poland to introduce the integrated and ecological development and to reduce the negative effects on Nature caused by agriculture
