The effect of some Salvia sp. against Bactocera oleae (Bern) and Phthorimaea operculella (Zeller.)

Qualitative analysis (Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry) and quantitative analysis (Gas Chromatography) were done for the essential oils of Salvia fructicosa, Salvia pomifera and Salvia sclarea. Their essential oils were of three different types, recording by Garcia et al., classification for genus Salvia essential oils. Comparisons were done with literature related to any insecticide and/or repellent activity. In the first part of the experiments foliage of two population of Salvia fructicosa were compared with an untreated control, at the Institute of Olive Tree and Subtropical Plants, Chania, Crete, Greece. In the second part of the experiments effect of foliage, essential oils of Salvia fructicosa and Salvia sclarea, and different emulsions of 1.8 cineole and a- +b-thujone were compared to control and untreated results
