First thinning of a littoral pine plantation. Chipping of complete trees [Tuscany]

Английский. The trial was carried out on an umbrella pine plantation. The stand was 9 years old and the trees had an average mass of 122 kg. Two treatments were tested, for a removal of 50% and 75% of the tree number. Both treatments were applied with a geometric criterion. Trees were uprooted with a 100 kW excavator, which gathered them in small bunches. These were chipped with a 390 kW self-propelled tracked chipper. Both machines reached an average productivity of 10 t/h. Two tractor-based chip shuttles transported the chip to a landing. Complete-tree chipping is interesting in economical terms. Thinning costs were very limited, or absent. Work quality was excellent and certainly much superior to that obtained with a mulcher. Pruning yielded an additional benefit, whose value varies around 500.000 ItL/ha. Within the studied treatments, thinning grade did not affect harvesting economy. Therefore, the forester can base his choice on the ecological needs of the stand, without giving too much thought to the economical implications

итальянский. Le prove hanno interessato lo sfollo di una piantagione di pino domestico. Le piante avevano 9 anni ed una massa media di 122 kg. Sono stati sperimentati due trattamenti, per un prelievo del 50 e del 75%. Entrambi i trattamenti erano effettuati con criterio geometrico. Le piante erano sradicate con un escavatore da 100 kW, che le riuniva in fastelli. Successivamente, i fastelli erano cippati con una cippatrice semovente cingolata da 390 kW. Entrambe le macchine producevano circa 10 t/h. Il cippato era soffiato in due unita' trattore-rimorchio, che lo trasportano all'imposto. La cippatura integrale risulta interessante sotto il profilo economico. I costi di intervento sono molto ridotti o addirittura assenti. La qualita' del lavoro e' eccellente e, comunque, molto superiore a quella ottenibile con un decespugliatore forestale. La potatura costituisce un beneficio aggiuntivo, il cui valore oscilla intorno alle 500.000 lire ad ettaro. All'interno delle tesi sperimentate, l'intensita' dello sfollo influisce poco sull'economia dell'operazione. Questo lascia piena liberta' al selvicoltore, che puo' scegliere il modulo piu' adatto sotto il profilo colturale, senza preoccuparsi delle implicazioni economiche
