Validity of some treatments to promote germination of Rhus coriaria Lindl. seeds - species suitable for the re-naturalization of degraded Mediterranean lands [Sicily]

Английский. In Sicily, the Sicilian sumac, Rhus coriaria, grows in xeric areas and in degraded soils. This species is suited for preparing the habitat to setting of shrub and tree species of Mediterranean scrub. Some treatments (water, stratification (4 deg C), sulphuric acid, gibberellic acid and ethephon at different concentration and time of treatment) were tested to individuate a suitable system to propagate Sicilian sumac by seed. To promote the germination of hard-seeds of Rhus coriaria, it is necessary to scarify them. The treatment whit sulphuric acid for 15 hours determined the highest percentage (60%) of germination

Sono state condotte delle prove di germinazione su semi di sommacco siciliano (Rhus coriaria) finalizzate all'individuazione delle tecniche migliori per l'ottenimento di giovani piantine da utilizzare negli interventi di rinaturalizzazione. La specie infatti sembra particolarmente idonea a colonizzare con facilita' aree xeriche e pedologicamente estreme. Le tecniche applicate hanno consentito di individuare quelle piu' idonee a consentire la germinazione
