Английский. The interaction host-pathogen can activate a type of multicomponent disease resistance, that is called systemic acquired resistance (SAR). This resistance acts against a wide range of pathogens and can be both local and systemic, when it is induced by prior infection. Several genes have been associated with the expressions of SAR and some of them encode for the PR-proteins (pathogenesis related proteins). The combined effect of multiple antimicrobial compounds is probably necessary for effective SAR. Salicylic acid (SA) seems to be a key molecule in the establishment of SAR, but other signals may also be responsible for systemic expression of SAR. This is demonstrated by induction of PR-proteins when exogenous SA is applied in plants
