The evaluation of 24 cv, the L235-4 clone (backcross of S. tuberosum x S. berthaultii) and 8 somatic hybrids S. tuberosum (+) S. pinnatisectum, for resistance to Colorado potato beetle, potato tuber moth and wireworm, was carried out in field and in laboratory. Among varieties, resulted all susceptible, Liseta showed the highest production even if suffered from a high damage. L235-4, as well as somatic hybrids, suffered from a less damage caused by potato beetle respect to the control. Somatic hybrids were resistant to the moth. Among the somatic hybrids, a high variability of response to antibiosis test was observed (level of resistance from moderate to high towards potato beetle and tuber moth, weak resistance to the wireworm). S. tuberosum x S. berthaultii clones, previously selected for resistance to potato beetle, were backcrossed to varieties and the progenies were evaluated in field, where showed a good level of resistance

Si riportano i risultati di una ricerca triennale (1998-2000) volta a migliorare germoplasma di patata per resistenza ad insetti. 24 cv, il clone L235-4 da reincrocio S. tuberosum x S. berthaultii e 8 ibridi somatici S. tuberosum (+) S. pinnatisectum sono stati valutati per resistenza a dorifora, tignola ed elateridi. Tra le varieta', tutte suscettibili, Liseta ha avuto una buona produzione in campo anche subendo un danno da dorifora elevato. Il clone L235-4 e gli ibridi somatici hanno subito minor danno da dorifora dei controlli. Gli ibridi hanno mostrato anche resistenza alla tignola. Dai test di antibiosi di laboratorio sugli ibridi somatici, e' stata riscontrata un'alta variabilita' nel livello di resistenza ai tre insetti. Progenie da reincrocio di cloni S. tuberosum x S. berthaultii valutate in campo hanno mostrato un buon grado di resistenza
