Английский. The aim of this paper is to analyse the competitive position of Tunisian date exports to the European Union market. The method of analysis used is a shift-share competitiveness matrix. Five markets are considered within the EU: France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain. The results indicate that EU demand for dates has remained stable over the last years. Tunisia is the main supplier within the EU, France and Italy being the main destination of Tunisian exports. Finally, French exports are acquiring greater importance. Indeed, France re-exports dates from Algeria, bought at low prices, increasing its competitiveness with traditional exporters, e.g. Tunisia, on the European market, which is increasingly saturated.

L'analyse shift-share se concentre sur les cinq premiers marchés européens importateurs de dattes : la France, l'Italie, l'Angleterre, l'Allemagne et l'Espagne. Les résultats révèlent que l'importation européenne de dattes n'a pas varié durant les dernières années. La Tunisie reste le premier fournisseur en valeur de l'UE. Cependant, l'existence d'un courant réexportateur, surtout des dattes d'origine algérienne, fait de la France un concurrent potentiel de la Tunisie dans un marché européen de plus en plus saturé.
