This issue includes the proceeding of the 2nd Seminar on Italo-Albanian Cooperation for the Enhancement of Plant Biodiversity, held in Tirana on 26-27 October, 2000. The proceedings are divided into two sections: (i) protection and preservation of biodiversity and (ii) use of biodiversity. This was the second of four seminars organised in the framework of the project - Study Centre for the protection and conservation of Mediterranean plants, with the establishment of a botanical garden - which falls within the Interreg II Italy-Albania Programme. The publication of these proceedings provide a source of valuable information on plant biodiversity issues in Albania and Apulia (Italy). The papers focus on the preservation of biodiversity and its sustainable use in the future. The book includes 14 scientific papers presented by Albanian and Italian scientists; some of them jointly present the preliminary results of the project. The publication of these proceedings bears witness to and documents this second experience. The editorial group hopes that this information will be exploited not only by scientists and technicians of both countries, but also by colleagues from the Mediterranean basin.
