Английский. The semen of boars is exposed to multiple contamination. Bacterial infections are mainly transported on faecal material. Therefore, hygiene is of first importance in terms of prophylaxis. Viral contamination is more frightening; excretion in the semen takes place mainly in the beginning phase of various viral conditions in boar. Strict rules of selection must therefore be applied to animals to be utilized in artificial insemination, as well as in the centres themselves, to avoid the diffusion of the disease by the semen
