Effect of different protein percentage of diets on growth and carcass traits of Cinta Senese pigs [Tuscany]

Английский. 40 pigs, barrows and females, were subdivided in four groups. All animals were free-ranged and fed foodstuff grower (16% CP). Each 42 days one group of ten animals has been transferred to a diet with a lower protein percentage (13% CP) so that after 168 days all animals received the same low protein diet. At about 140 kg of live weight all pigs were slaughtered and their carcasses were dissected. Different combinations of protein percentage and period of supply did not affect growth data and carcass composition. It is assumable that Cinta Senese pigs have protein requirements clearly lower than those of the improved breeds

Tutti gli animali erano allevati all'aperto e alimentati con un mangime per l'accrescimento (16% di PG). Ogni 42 giorni un gruppo di 10 animali e' stato trasferito a una dieta con una percentuale minore (13% di PG), cosicche' dopo 168 giorni tutti gli animali ricevevano la stessa dieta a basso contenuto proteico. A circa 140 kg di peso vivo tutti i suini sono stati macellati e le loro carcasse sono state sottoposte a dissezione. Le combinazioni diverse di percentuale proteica e di periodo di somministrazione non hanno influenzato i dati relativi alla crescita e la composizione delle carcasse.
