Comparative performance of faba bean synthetics developed from different parental number [Vicia faba L.]

Английский. Synthetic varieties have been proposed in faba bean. Basic information related to the appropriate methodology for the development of synthetics is needed. One of the critical problems is to determine the optimum parental number. This study was conducted to compare the performance of synthetics differing in parental number and to evaluate how reproductive characters contributed to the separation among synthetics. Eleven parental genotypes belonging to the different genetic pools of faba bean were used to develop a set of nine synthetic varieties with different parental number. Synthetics were grown in a performance trial in two years with three replications at one location, in Southern Spain. Yield and yield components were evaluated by bivariate and multivariate procedures. Overall results showed that differences among synthetics with different parental number were mostly due to yield and two of its components, seeds per plant and pods per plant. The importance of seeds per pod and hundred seed weight is much lower. There was no relationship between yield and hundred seed weight among the synthetics. The highest yielding synthetics were the synthetics with six and seven parents. For all the characters, except for seeds per pod, hundred seed weight and podding nodes in the main stem, the superiority of the synthetics with six and seven parents has been striking. This information is particularly useful to design synthetics varieties for the Mediterranean region

E' necessario disporre di informazioni di base per adottare metodologia appropriata per lo sviluppo di queste varieta'. Uno dei problemi critici e' quello di determinare il numero ottimale di parentali. Questo studio e' stato condotto per confrontare il comportamento di varieta' sintetiche diverse per numero di parentali e per valutare come i caratteri riproduttivi contribuivano alla separazione delle cultivar sintetiche. Undici genotipi parentali di fava appartenenti a gruppi genetici diversi sono stati utilizzati per sviluppare nove varieta' sintetiche con numero di parentali diverso. Le varieta' sintetiche sono state coltivate in una prova agronomica della durata di due anni, con tre repliche, in una localita' del Sud della Spagna. La resa produttiva e i componenti della resa sono stati valutati con procedure bivariate e multivariate. I risultati nel complesso hanno dimostrato che le differenze tra le varieta' sintetiche con numero diverso di parentali erano dovute principalmente alla resa e a due componenti di questa: i semi per pianta e i baccelli per pianta. L'importanza dei semi per baccello e il peso di 100 semi e' molto piu' bassa. Non e' stata individuata alcuna relazione tra la resa e il peso di 100 semi. Le piu' alte produzioni si sono avute nelle varieta' con 6 e 7 genitori. Per i caratteri, eccetto che per i semi per baccello, il peso di 100 semi e i nodi fruttiferi nel fusto principale, la superiorita' delle varieta' con 6 e 7 genitori e' stata notevolissima.
